The Kina Securities main stock index, the KSi, closed higher today with a large cap mining giant settling in green. The index ended up 254.94 points or 7.17% to 3,810.11 points. Meanwhile, the home index or the KSHi remained steady at the same level of 9,738.78 point amid thinly trading POMSoX session.
One stock gained while three stocks remained unchanged.
The sole winner for the day was Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) collecting a massive K5.00 to close at K30.00 on the back of improving ASX prices.
Oil Search Ltd (OSH) stayed flat at K16.00 flat despite improved oil prices and ASX prices. Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) and Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) traded unchanged at K2.55 and K7.40 respectively.
Today’s registered a combined volume of 2,586 shares valued at K17,125.05.
In overseas markets, U.S. stocks ended the overnight session slightly higher as gains in the energy sector lifted the Dow Jones Industrial average. Ending at 18,036.70, the Average advanced 59.66 points, or 0.3%, with nearly two-thirds of its 30 components finishing with gains. Japan’s Nikkei share average was flat on Wednesday as investors took profits on recent gainers on expectations that companies will report strong profits in coming days. The Australian shares traded lower, weighed down by weakness in the big banks today with the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index down 38.2 points, or 0.64% at 5,908.40 points.
