The Kina Securities main stock index, the KSi, closed higher today with a large cap mining giant settling in green. The index surged 162.47 points or 2.98% to 5,619.64 points while, the home index or the KSHi remained steady at the same level of 10,917.38 points at close of market.
One stock gained compared to none that fell.
Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) advanced K3.00 at K60.00 strengthening the main index.
Meanwhile, Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) was traded however remained unchanged at K9.50.
Wednesday’s trading recorded a total of 1,675 units valued at K31,820.00
U.S. stocks rose on in overnight trading amid growing optimism that Republican lawmakers would be able to overhaul the corporate tax system. The Down jumped 118.77 points or 0.49% to 24,504.80 points boosted by gains in Boeing and Verizon. The index also posted intraday and closing record highs. Japan’s Nikkei share average ended 108.0 points or 0.047% lower at 22,758.07points on Wednesday after tech stocks fell tracking their weaker U.S. counterparts. Australian shares closed higher today with Westfield soaring after news of a massive takeover offer for the property giant. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 1.30 points or 0.02% at 6,014.50 points at close.
