Tuesday’s trading session was active on POMSOX today as the Kina Securities main stock index gained. The Main index KSi was 68.58 points or 1.70% to 4,105.20 points while the Home index KSHi maintained at 9,187.21 points.
One stock gained compared to another that lost.
Dual-listed leading oil and gas stock Oil Search Ltd (OSH) was the winning stock, closing 70toea higher to end at K15.00.
On the downside, banking and financial stock Kina Securities Ltd (KSL) fell 20toea lower to finish at K2.20 at the close.
Meanwhile unchanged stocks were led by junior cap explorer Highlands Pacific Ltd (HIG) at 20toea flat followed closely by Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) at K7.50 even.
The day’s trading transacted a total of 329,217 shares valued at K108,558.00.
U.S stocks closed lower, relinquishing earlier gains made as oil futures rallied and the dollar traded lower against most of its rivals. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 20.55 points or 0.12% to 17,556.41 points. Japan’s Nikkei rose after weaker yen lifted exporters and banks were outperformed. The Nikkei share average surged 193.04 points or 1.23% to 15,944.17 points. The Australian share market was slightly higher, helped by gains in mining and financial stocks as investors are expected to remain on the sidelines this week. The benchmark index was trading 0.92% or 45.37 points higher at 4,976.90 points.
