U.S stocks closed lower after drifting between slight gains and losses, finishing October with a loss as stronger-than-expected consumer spending data underlined the economy’s growth. The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 18.77 points or 0.1% to close at 18,142.42 points. Japan’s Nikkei edged up in choppy trade on Tuesday after BOJ held policy steady while disappointing earnings forecasts from companies capped gains. The benchmark Nikkei share rose 17.38 points or 0.10% to 17,442.40 points. The Australian stock market declined following weak cues from Wall Street and the fall in crude oil prices overnight as the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 slipped 40.50 points or 0.76% to 5,277.20 points.
