Kina Securities indices closed on a mixed note as stocks headed in opposite direction for Thursday’s POMSoX trading session. The Main index KSi rose, up 10.80 points (-0.29%) at 3,763.91 points while the home index KSHi went down at 8,321.72 points, off 10.33 points (0.12%).
Two stocks gained while another stock, accompanied by a Note debenture , lost for the session.
Oil Search Ltd (OSH), the oil and gas stock, recovered 13 toea to close back up at K19.20. A sole-listed pharmaceutical stock, City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) ended at K1.79, up 4 toea.
On the downside, Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) closed lower by a toea to K7.22. The stock’s negative movement weighed on the home index.
Stocks traded however remained unchanged were Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) and Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) at K25.00 and K2.70 respectively.
BSP Unsecured Notes (BSPHA) moved lower by K1,000.00 at K25,000.00.
Thursday’s session registered a combined volume of 26,470 units valued at K415,069.60.
In New York, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a record level again on Wednesday by adding 77.52 points, or 0.5%, to 17,138.20 for the 15th time this year, as better-than-expected corporate earnings lifted broader markets. Japan’s Nikkei share average closed 9.04 points(-0.06%) lower to 15,443.56 points Thursday, despite gains on Wall Street. Meanwhile, Australian shares have lifted on the back of strong performances across the materials sector with the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index gaining 26.6 points, or 0.48 per cent, higher at 5,545.5 by close of market today.
