Thursday’s POMSOX trading session closed on a mixed note as one stock index rose. The Kina Securities main index KSi advanced 486.32 points or 9.97% to 5,365.54 points and meanwhile the Kina Securities Home Index KSHi was maintained at 11,057.97 points.
Winning stock for the day was mining giant Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM), gaining K9.00 to close at a high of K55.00.
Oil Search Ltd (OSH) however ended on the red as the stock shed a toea to close lower at K18.00.
Kina Petroleum Ltd (KPL) was the only other stock traded unchanged at 40toea.
A thin trading volume of 6,288 shares were transacted at a value of K34,545.00.
In U.S markets, stocks closed at a record for a second straight session as the Feds hiked rates after its two-day policy meeting. Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 46.09 points or 0.22% to 21,374.56 points. Japanese shares fell in choppy trade after weak U.S inflation data overshadowed an interest hike by the Feds. The Nikkei share average slumped 51.70 points or 0.26% to 19,831.82 points. The Australian market continued its recent rally as the S&P/ASX 200 benchmark index added 61.10 points or 1.06% to 5,833.90 points.
