Trading was modest on Thursday’s POMSOX session with a key financial stock gaining grounds. The Kina Securities Ltd main index or KSI was 11.31 points or 0.34% higher to 3,364.33 points. Likewise, the Home Index or the KSHi rose 9.85 points or 0.10% to 9,433.02 points.
One stock gained while all others ended flat.
Financial holding Bank South Pacific (BSP) was the winning stock for the day. The stock ended 1toea higher at K7.50.
Meanwhile, Credit Corporation Ltd (CCP) and Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) were unmoved at K2.00 and K25.00 respectively.
Today’s POMSOX trades registered 2,104 units valued at K11,660.50.
In markets abroad, U.S stocks closed lower after intense selling as investors unloading consumer-discretionary, financial and health-care stocks. Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 364.81 points or 2.21% at 16,151.41 points. Japan’s tumbled 4 per cent after hitting as low as 17,004.12, the lowest since late September. The Nikkei share average was down by 474.68 points or 2.68% to 17,240.95 points. The Australian stock market was notably lower with the negative lead from Wall Street and weak energy prices weighing or investor sentiment. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 fell 78.06 points or 1.57% to 4,909.38 points.
