Both stock indices closed positively amid moderate trading on Thursday’s POMSOX trading session. The Kina Securities main index KSi was up 2.73 points or 0.05% to 4,990.73 points and likewise the Kina Securities Home Index KSHi gained 49.25 ponts or 0.44% to 11,156.28 points.
Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) rose by 5toea to end higher at K9.60.
Followed closely by Oil Search Ltd (OSH) which added a toea to finish at K17.01.
A total of 20,041 shares were transacted at a value of K229,443.60.
In overseas news, U.S markets finished mostly higher with the Dow leading after Apple’s results posting stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 8.00 points lower or 0.04% to 21,949.00 points. Japanese stocks fell as investors wasted little time taking profits in tech shares which rose the previous day as the Nikkei fell 13.00 points or 0.06% to 21,944.00 points. The Australian stock market was modestly lower despite the DJIA closing above the 22,000 level overnight, with the heavyweight miners among the leading losers. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 shed 4.90 points or 0.09% to 5,739.30 points.
