U.S stocks set records for the first time in nearly 14 months this week as the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 31 points or 0.17% to 18,448 points. Japan’s Nikkei posted its biggest weekly gain in 6-1/2 years after a fifth straight winning session on Friday, lifted by Wall Street’s record run and sagging yen. The Nikkei share average rose 160.00 points or 0.98% to 16,560.00 points. The Australian share market’s strong run continued, led by energy, retail and banking companies. Despite mixed performances by major international equity markets on Friday, the local benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 15.8 points at 5,445.40 points.
