Both Kina Securities stock indices extended their gains for the second consecutive session on POMSoX Friday. The main Kina Securities stock index, the KSi, added 2.88 points (+0.07%) to finish at 3,876.43 points. Likewise, the home index, the KSHi completed at 8,215.70 points, after advancing 2.09 points (+0.03) at the close.
There were two stocks that gained against none that fell.
The winners for the session were Kina Asset Management Ltd (KAM) & Oil Search Ltd (OSH) both collecting 4 toea each and closing strong at K1.10 and K17.55 respectively.
On the down side, Marengo Mining Ltd (MMC) was down by a toea at 17 toea.
Other stocks that traded unchanged for the day included one mining stock, Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) that closed unmoved at K30.00 followed by Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) even at K7.99 and New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBO) unchanged K15.00 flat.
The last trading session for the week recoded a low volume of 12,403 shares valued at K66,797.08.
In markets abroad, U.S. stocks closed lower in overnight trading with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 104.10 points, (-0.7%) to end at 15,739.43 points as investors took in encouraging retail-sales data,
but also with a worse than expected jobless-claims report. However, Japanese equities flourished amid a weakened yen, as exporters benefit from a cheaper currency when they repatriate overseas earnings. The Nikkei 225 rose 153.29 points (+1%) at 15,495.11 points by close of market today. Likewise, The Australian share market has closed higher, finishing in positive territory after six days of losses aided by the energy and insurance sectors, with the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index up by 35.9 points (+0.71%) higher at 5,098.40 points today.
