POMSoX trading was light on the last trading day of the week. The Kina Securities Main Index, or the KSi added a mere 0.62 points (-0.02%) at 3,556.23 points while the Kina securities Home Index, the KSHi remained flat at 9,772.09 points at the close.
Only one stock gained with no other movements for today’s session.
The increase in the main index was attributable to the positive performance of Highlands Pacific Ltd (HIG) that collected a toea to close at 16 toea.
Meanwhile, Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) traded unchanged at K7.35 flat followed by Oil Search Ltd (OSH) at K16.00 even.
Friday’s trading recorded a total of 20,232 units at a value of K78,391.80.
U.S. stocks ended an overnight choppy trading session with modest gains helped by a rally in energy and health-care sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 56.28 points, or 0.3%, to 17,958.79, with more than two-thirds of its components ending higher. Japan’s Nikkei share average slipped on Friday when the initial euphoria as it topped the psychological milestone of 20,000 was quickly taken over by selling to lock in the past few months’ solid gains. The Nikkei fell 0.2%to 19,897.97. In Australia, the S&P/ASX200 index was up 18.9 points, or 0.32% to 5,951.10 points despite weakening crude oil prices while miner stocks suffered losses as China cut iron ore tax on its domestic producers.
