Kina Securities Indices opened the week on the downside after the close of POMSOX trading session on Monday. The main index, KSi fell 4.81 points (-0.14%) to end at 3,486.80 points. Likewise, the Kina Securities Home Index or KSHi shed 152.58 points (-1.59%) to 9,460.17 points.
Home-listed financial stock Bank South Pacific Ltd (BSP) was the only stock traded today. The stock closed 15toea lower to end at K7.35 with a tradable volume of 20,893 units executed worth K153,563.55.
U.S major stock market indexes were unhinged as falling prices in crude oil and worries about junk-bond markets rattled Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 309.54 points or 1.76% 17,265.21 points. Japan’s Nikkei share average tumbled more than 3 percent to a 7-1/2 week low on Monday as global oil prices extended their plunge. The Nikkei share average declined 347.06 points or 1.80% to 18,883.42 points. The Australian share market fell sharply to close below 5,000 points as mining and energy stocks took a beating on lower prices for iron ore and oil. S&P/ASX 200 benchmark index declined 100.85 points or 2.01% to 4,928.60 points.
